Breffni Vintage Club Memorial Run 2010

On Sunday 30/05/2010 Breffni Vintage Club held their 10th annual run in memory of deceased members of the club. The run began and finished at the ideal grounds of the Slieve Russell Hotel in Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan. The event saw almost 150 cars traverse 40 miles of roads in west Cavan and south Fermanagh. The run began at the Slieve Russell and departed for the first 20 mile leg which would bring the cars through Ballyconnell, Teemore, Lisnaskea, Carry Bridge and Derrylin to Knockninny Country House & Marina.

Refreshments were served by the staff of Knockninny Country House & Marina and everyone had a chance to relax and enjoy the fabulous grounds and marina. The Mountain Road Pipe Band performed a brilliant music recital and shortly afterwards the cars departed to complete the second and final leg of the journey back to Ballyconnell.

The return leg of the journey brought the cars through Kinawley, Swanlinbar and Bawnboy to return to the Slieve Russell for a meal and presentation of the awards. There was several awards presented for various categories.

Overall, the event was a great success and a very enjoyable day was had by all. I’d like to thank Breffni Vintage Club for organising, yet another, wonderful run and I look forward to next years. I’d also like to thank the sponsors of the event without whom it could not have taken place; Hammond Good Solicitors, James & Patrick Mc Govern Builders Bawnboy, GT Electric and Lock Up Alarms Manorhamilton. Also a huge thank you to all the marshals and Gardaí who made the event run as smooth as possible.

As you can see, I’ve updated and changed the website a little.

The gallery is now handled outside of this using using another site called Pix.ie
There is now a new music page where I will upload various mixes that I have made.
The site has been moved to a new host.

David Brown 996 Tractor Restoration Video Logs

In the past few months we beganwork on restoring a David Brown 996 tractor. The tractor was in pretty good condition but we decided a lick of paint wouldn’t go astray !!

I was originally going to log the restoration of the tractor with photos but I’ve decided to do a video log instead. The first video of the logs is on Youtube and can be viewed on my youtube page at http://www.youtube.com/cian1500ww

Connacht Vintage Club on "At Your Service"

The connacht vintage club will be on RTE’s “At Your Service” tomorrow night, Sunday 18th October, at 8:30pm. The show will be covering the relaunch of a hostel at Lough Arrow, Co. Sligo which the club attended.

IRC 2010 Calendar announced

The InterContinental Rally Challenge has finalised their calendar for the 2010 championship. The championship will start once again with the iconic Monte Carlo rally which, for the first time, will be fully televised including live coverage of all the stages. Next year will see the addition of three new events; Rally Argentina, the Rally d’Italia Sardegna and the FxPro Cyprus Rally which will act as the final rally of the championship.

“This exciting calendar reflects the increasing status of IRC in world motorsport, with more and more prestigious events joining our series. We have taken a number of major steps forward with high levels for both competition and ground-breaking live TV coverage. This contributes to the spectacular rise in the profile of the series” said Géraldine Filiol, Managing Director of Eurosport Events.

“For 2010, we are embarking on our most ambitious season yet: not only do we start the season with the legendary Monte Carlo Rally with fully 14 hours of live action, but we will extend this innovative Live television production to 4 other events across the year, to provide unrivalled access for fans and great value to competitors and commercial partners” she added.

It’s certainly an ambitious attempt have live coverage of the entire Monte Carlo rally but it will be nice for those of us who can’t make it to these events.
